Even when the school day ends, Academy students have innumerable enrichment opportunities to learn, create, and play.
Students in grades 1-5 may choose to participate in fun and healthy intramural sports programs after school at the Academy’s extensive athletic facilities.
Go Bulldogs! Middle School students can join an Academy sports team and play against other local independent schools.
Fourth and fifth grade students take to the kitchen and create a range of culinary delights in after-school cooking class.
Students in kindergarten through grade 8 can test their intellect, mettle, and problem-solving at the chess club and local community tournaments. The Academy’s award-winning chess team excels regularly at the Michigan Chess Association’s state championship.
The Blue Crew is a group of fifth and sixth grade students with loads of school spirit who work the concession stand at home sporting events, operate the scoreboard, make banners and signs, and even dress up as the school mascot.
The Academy’s forensics team is a legendary extracurricular activity in which middle school students compete in categories of drama, poetry, declamation, impromptu, duo and multiple interpretation, and storytelling. Practices are held once a week after school, as well as during school hours. Forensic team alumni unanimously proclaim the benefits of public speaking training and exposure later in life when they present in high school, college, and professionally.
After Care Program
The Academy also offers after school care for children. Students may attend every day or simply when they are not involved in an after school activity.
