On Tuesday, October 27, 2020, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and State Treasurer Rachael Eubanks announced a new grant program for Michigan teachers and support staff for individuals who worked additional time and incurred additional costs during the 2019-2020 school year due to COVID-19.
Grosse Pointe Academy faculty may be eligible to receive up to $500, and support staff up to $250, as part of the TSSC19 grant program. These grants are being made available to all K-12 educators that worked during the 2019-20 school year (prior to April 2, 2020) and through the mandated school closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The state of Michigan’s Fiscal Year 2021 budget provides $53 million for eligible K-12 classroom teachers and $20 million for eligible support staff.
Academy faculty and staff who are eligible for either grant will be receiving an email from Cyndi Willoughby before Monday, November 9, 2020 with more information. Grosse Pointe Academy faculty or staff members who do not receive an email by November 9 should contact Cyndi Willoughby at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Friday, December 4, 2020 to claim and/or appeal their eligibility.
